Field Guide Life-Sized or Rug
There are two ways of skinning the animal:

  1. Dorsal cut, which is down the back instead of the belly and is the preferred method.
  2. Belly cut is alright for animals without horns or antlers.

Please leave feet, tails, and outer sex organ attached with the skin.

It is imperative to keep the animal cool, either by gutting the animal (please do not gut if doing a dorsal cut), or skinning the animal.

Allow the skin to cool to the touch, then fold, flesh side together and place in a bag, preferably a breathable bag.

Keep out of direct sunlight and away from exhaust heat from any vehicle.

Do not salt, or let skin air burn.

Do not slit the throat.
